GARIMA (Dignity) and SOHUM (God within)

On October 2, on the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, SIB launched two Evergreen projects.

GARIMA (Dignity)

The Club proudly presented its Vocational Training Center for Women’s Empowerment. This is hub for a number of short-term and long-term certified courses under a single, umbrella roof. Aiming at Educating, Empowering and Enabling women and girls, giving them certified courses for computer training, tailoring and making saree tassels, cloth and paper bags, candles, soaps and garlands are a few of the activities that it is proud of.

SOHUM (God within)

In a world that is becoming mentally unstable, setting up a Counselling Centre for the Mental Well-Being of Women is a valiant attempt to commemorate World Mental Health Day on October 10. The initiative is taking forward the SIGBI theme of “Think on it”, focusing on the wellbeing and mental health of women and girls.

Sohum is a major contribution of Past President and current Friendship Link Officer, Anita Raghu Belagodu. With experienced Consultants, Psychologist Swarnalata, Counsellor Prachi Desai, Psychiatrist Dr. Pramila Devi, SIB sisters Dr. Margaret Ponnaiah and Alternate Therapies expert Dr, Prathibha Vinay, the non-profit centre is operating with volunteers and a lot of goodwill.
