Soroptimist International was founded in 1921. The global SI works in 4 tiers:
International, Federation, Regional and Local Level.
There are four federations around the world:
- SI of The Americas (SI/A),
- SI Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI),
- SI of Europe and
- SI of South West Pacific.
The National Association of Soroptimist International Clubs of India (NASI) is the Parent body of all the SI clubs in India. This administrative body links clubs in India to the Federation.
Clubs in India affiliated to SIGBI Ltd through the NASI are as follows:
SI Bangalore, SI Bombay Chembur, SI Bombay West, SI Burdwan, SI Calcutta, SI Chennai, SI Chennai Down Town, SI Kodaikanal, SI Madurai, SI North Bombay SI Pune, SI Pune Metro East, SI South Kolkata And SI Whitefield.

Soroptimist International Bangalore was established on 10th January, 2004 through a charter from SIGBI and has completed over 12 years of existence. SI Bangalore also has friendship links with several SI clubs all over the world who take interest in our ongoing projects and contribute funds for them.
