The swirling autumn breezes of August ushered in an extraordinary month of Independence for
SIB. It opened its first vocational training centre in JP.Nagar, near Dalmiya circle, kindly offered
by member Sudha Manandi. After some initial classes, there are plans to shift to a larger
training centre in HSR Layout, which will be offered by past President Anuradha Pradip.
Tailoring, soap making, candle making and other skills by SIB members as well as social
volunteers will be offered to train women, so that they can be empowered and take their lives
forward. The first classes will hopefully begin by the end of August.
